It's taken me over a year to try and define what Spirit means. Why so long? Spirit can't be adequately described with words...at least not for me. But I can always try my best. =)

Spirit is more of a feeling, one that is almost like love. It grows over time and you don't realize you have it until one day it just hits you and knocks you off your feet, or carries you away.

The Site Fights is all about Spirit...showing it, spreading it, sharing it,...experiencing it. It isn't just about building a page for your team, or posting cheers at Shout it Out, or even voting for your teammates. It's everything combined. It's a feeling associated with every thing you do, onsite and off.

Most of all...it's the friendship among fighters, the contact between all members of The Site Fights, the support shown towards one another, and helping someone out who needs it. It's the relationship between a Spirit and Enchanted Spirit, a Fairy or Wee One and Lady, Quill and Scribe, Fighters and their Team Leaders, and contact with anyone that leaves you with a great feeling in your heart and the satisfaction of knowing that you have learned something from the experience.

It is pride and confidence in yourself while showing tolerance and acceptance towards others in their diversity. It is not giving in when you feel down or when times have become too difficult to bear alone.

It is the global effort of each of us to overcome our difficulties, to support each other in reaching our ultimate goals, to remember to have fun, and to make lasting friendships.

For me as a Spirit of DRealm and assistant to my Enchanted Spirit, Spirit is also the responsibility I have to ensure that no one loses their way and always has someone to turn to for help or just to talk to. It is reminding every member on the team of the importance of keeping a positive attitude and it is encouraging them to do their best in everything they do.

Sharing Spirit is one of the easiest things to do. You first experience it when you join The Site Fights. If you are joining as a fighter, you are given a Spirit Stick by the DPatrol Deputy that reviewed your site. As a Spirit or Fairy, you are given one to pass on to others. Anyone can share the Spirit Stick by giving it to someone else. You can send it in an email, or leave it in someone's guestbook. Even if the person has a whole collection of them on their site, it's always great to get another one. =)

You will find a Spirit Stick on every one of my pages in this site and any page that I have made that has anything to do with The Site Fights. Every one is linked so that if you click on it, a new window will open and you can save it and share it with someone else.

It is the most familiar and widely used graphic in The Site Fights. It is more than a gift or dusting wand, it is a symbol for everything The Site Fights stands for and the great Spirit we all have and share with each other.

It's amazing how much meaning such a small bunch of pixels can hold isn't it?
